Plasma (non-surgical blepharoplasty)

From £150

What is Plasma?

Plasma is a medical procedure which involves the application of plasma to sublimate the skin without transferring heat to the surrounding tissue. Sublimation is the process of turning a substance from a solid straight into a gas. There is no electric current flowing.

How Does it Work?

The device works through the generation of a targeted micro beam of plasma energy. This causes skin retraction and tightening in the target area, as well as helping to stimulate the production of collagen from the healing response.
The Plasma IQ device is so precise that no heat is transferred to the surrounding area. It creates 1mm treatment spots. This means that it can be used to treat more sensitive areas, such as the eyelids, which are not always suitable for other non-invasive methods.

Does it Hurt?

The procedure can be a little uncomfortable but is usually well tolerated. The procedure can cause some heating of the skin which can arise to a burning sensation. Numbing cream is applied to the treatment areas 20-30 mins prior to make it more comfortable.

What Areas Can Be Treated?

  •  Upper and lower eyelid sagging, bags and lines.; (non-surgical blepharoplasty).
  • Crow’s feet.
  • Lines around the mouth.
  • Fine lines and wrinkles on the neck and décolletage.
  • Acne scars and general scarring.
  • Skin imperfections, such as skin tags, warts and moles etc.
  • Red thread veins.
  • Stretch marks.
  • Acne reduction.
  • Uneven skin tone and texture.

Aftercare and Downtime

Redness and swelling for a few days after the procedure is to be expected. Tiny dark brown or black
spots may appear where individual shots have been fired and red or a larger burn like appearance may be seen where plasma has been ‘sprayed’. The little brown scabs can be around for a few weeks and it is really important not to pick them and allow them to come off naturally to avoid scarring or infection. Cold compresses can be applied if needed and also aloe vera gel is very soothing. SPF must be worn to protect the skin for at least several weeks afterwards. Make-up can be worn from the following day but mineral make-up is preferred.

What About the Results?

This can vary and often more than one treatment is needed for optimum results. There should be at least six weeks before any further Plasma is applied to the same area.
You can expect the positive results to last several years if you avoid lifestyle factors that contribute to skin ageing and damage.

What are the Side Effects?

Plasma is considered a low-risk procedure however following treatment, there may be some pigment change seen at the treated area. Less commonly the treatment may result in a scar. As hair follicles are easily damaged by Plasma, it is not unusual for there to be an area of alopecia (baldness) in the area that has been treated. It is important to discuss all aspects of the treatment including any potential side effects with the practitioner prior to treatment.

Prices

Vary depending on treatment areas but usually around £150 per area.
