What are Dermal Fillers ?
Technically speaking they are classed as a medical device or implant. It contains mostly hyaluronic acid which a type of sugar found naturally within our body tissues such as our eyes, skin and cartilage. In the skin it attracts water so it improves hydration and increases plumpness and volume. Think of it as a sterile squishy gel that is applied using a needle and syringe. It is used to volumise, define, contour and fill lines, wrinkles and folds. As we age, our bone structure changes and we lose volume from our faces causing sagging and folds. Dermal fillers when applied in the right way can help to restore youthfulness by correcting some of these problems without looking ‘fake’ or ‘done’. There are varying types of filler to choose from, and this needs to be discussed carefully at consultation to ensure the correct filler is chosen for your needs and face type. Safety is an absolute priority only the very best filler ranges on the market with long standing safety records are used. These are ordered via patient prescription through recognised pharmacies only. This ensures we are using genuine products which have been scrutinised through high quality control.

What are the risks and downtime?
As with all medical aesthetic procedures, there will be some risks but usually no downtime. Common side effects include redness, swelling, lumps and bruising, which settle usually with a few hours or weeks. Less common are infection, allergic reaction, nodules and vascular occlusion. It is important to have a facial consultation and assessment with the nurse practitioner who can advise on an appropriate course of treatment, minimise any risks and deal with any complications should they arise.

Does it hurt?
Most procedures are pretty painless and most fillers contain lidocaine, some require numbing cream to be applied beforehand or use ice blocks. We take our time and no rushing in order to create a calm and relaxed environment keeping anxiety levels down!

How long does the procedure take?
It varies depending on the procedure but generally speaking please allow up to an hour for your treatment.

How long do results last?
This can vary from a few months to a few years! It depends on many factors such as type of filler used, where it is being placed and the patient’s lifestyle. People who do a lot of exercise, or have a higher metabolism and will metabolise (break down naturally) the product more quickly.

Lip Enhancement
A popular treatment, filler is applied to restore or add volume to lips. It can also be used to define the lip borders and create shape. In some cases, it can help to improve natural lip asymmetry.

Cheek Enhancement
As we age, we lose volume from our mid face causing sagging. We can replace this volume by adding dermal fillers in the cheeks which can create a more youthful appearance and help to improve sagging features. Fillers can also be added to create more definition and contour and enhance our cheek bones. It can also help to lift the lower face and create a slimmer profile.
From £200

Chin Enhancement
Some of us have a small chin which is out of proportion to our other facial features such as our lips and noses. By adding filler to the chin we can enhance the size and shape, creating more harmony between our facial features and creating a better aesthetic profile. Treatment can also help to reduce focus away from a double chin.
From £200

Jawline Contouring
As we age, our facial features start to sag. We create jowls and lose definition between where our lower face meets the neck. Dermal filler can be added to create a little definition to this area which in turn helps to improve the appearance of jowls and gives a more defined and lifted appearance to the lower face.

Perioral (smoker’s) Lines
These are the multiple tiny lines created around the mouth area. They are nicknamed smoker’s lines but really are created from the mouth muscle squeezing and relaxing from day to day activities not necessarily from smoking. As we age we lose collagen and fat from this area and the bony support underneath starts to decline causing it to be more prone to developing lines and wrinkles. Soft fillers can be carefully applied to these fine lines to help reduce their appearance and give a more refreshed youthful look.
From £200

Nasolabial Folds (nose to mouth lines)
These are normal however, as we age they can deepen and become more noticeable. This is because of facial sagging as we get older and some of the fat that sits in the upper area of the face loses support and starts to hang down. Dermal filler can be applied to the cheeks to give back this support and/or applied directly into the fold to reduce the depth and appearance.
From £200

Marionette Folds (sad mouth)
These are lines and folds at the corners of the mouth, giving a ‘sad mouth’ appearance. It is a natural part of the ageing process where as we age, facial sagging starts to develop causing the folds. Dermal filler can be applied to the upper face to give back this support and/or applied directly into the fold to reduce the depth and appearance
